China University of Petroleum Beijing will co-lead Work Package 4: Carbon Dioxide Storage Potential, and will also contribute to the work in Work Package 5: Policy Assessment and Roadmap.
China University of Petroleum, Beijing (CUPB) was established in 1953 and is a key national university in China.
The university has 4 faculties, 5 departments, 3 schools, 2 key state laboratories and 1 research center, offering 22 bachelors degrees, 47 masters and 23 Ph.D. programmes and one diploma program in Chinese Language Study.
At present, the university has about 11,000 students which include 300 international students. The education and research of the university covers all the sectors of the oil and gas industry from exploration, production to refining and petrochemicals. It includes geosciences, petroleum and gas engineering, enhanced oil recovery, chemical engineering, mechanical and electronic engineering, computer science and technology, business administration and continuing education. The university has studied CO2 for enhanced oil recovery since the 1980’s.
The university has cooperated with more than 50 overseas universities, research institutes and China National Petroleum Corporation(CNPC), China National Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) and China National Offshore Oil Corporation(CNOOC).
